Doha: The Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) held yesterday in Doha its 2023 parliamentary dialogue under the chairmanship of GOPAC Chairman H E Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri.

Held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), the event brought together Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim and a number of officials and representatives of UN agencies concerned with combating corruption.

In his inaugural speech, H E Dr. Al Marri stressed the importance of the parliamentarians’ role in combating corruption and implementing the convention, by supporting legislation that contributes to fighting corruption and intensifying oversight and accountability. The speaker highlighted the huge effects of the spread of corruption even in the most stable regimes, especially dragging nations into backwardness and ignorance, which incurs heavy losses by futur….
